Position Purpose:

  • The Medical Equipment Planner is responsible in managing the medical equipment planning functions throughout construction projects of new healthcare facilities, renovations, and expansions. This includes all project phases, such as cost estimate development, inventories, design, budget management, procurement and deployment.  The Medical Equipment Planner is expected to lead the project while staying on schedule, being detailed and accurate and effectively communicating with their internal project team, the design and construction team, and the client (leadership to end users).

Education & Experience:

  • 4 + years or more of medical equipment planning experience, or related experience in biomedical engineering, supply chain management, materials management or architectural medical planning
  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare management, biomedical engineering or related field
  • Background in project management, construction management, architecture design or project strategy planning
  • Extensive knowledge of medical equipment including appropriate use and allocation for clinical uses
  • Knowledge of clinical and healthcare departmental functions
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Understanding of architectural design and construction schedules to ensure the coordination of equipment programming, procurement and installation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects
  • Strong BlueBeam knowledge preferred
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) software usage and navigation experience preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 60%

Licenses & Certifications Desired:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Establish and maintain superior customer relationships from discovery of needs to close out of project(s)
  • Generate accurate equipment cost estimates
  • Conduct medical equipment surveys and inventories on client site to establish possible re-use and recommend re-use plan to end users, identifying obsolete and inappropriate equipment
  • Build projects in a planning database based on space projects and/or architectural drawings
  • Facilitate end user group meetings (both on client site and virtual), interviewing and verifying medical equipment requirements
  • Implement client standards in equipment selection and specification
  • Manage vendors during design, procurement, and delivery/installation, obtaining site-specific drawings and quotes as needed and appropriate
  • Identifies conflicts with design and equipment during the design phase to avoid change orders and delays
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and products
  • Obtain sign-off from end users of final equipment listing
  • Create deliverables per contract, including reports, assembling specification datasheets, and drawings produced by BIM operators
  • Manage the project schedule with internal project team (coordinators, BIM operators, planners) to ensure project remains on schedule without jeopardizing resources for other projects
  • Source medical equipment for accurate quotes, identifying additional savings
  • Maintain equipment budget by reviewing and tracking quotes, purchase orders and invoices, resolving and communicating issues as they occur
  • Schedule and management equipment delivery, deployment and installation by vendors, owner, and contractors
  • Interact with the full range of hospital professionals (senior leadership, physicians, division leaders, nurses, clinical engineering, etc.), architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers and contractors
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Equipment Planning

  • This position is full time
  • The position location is either in the Denver, CO / Phoenix, AZ markets; or remote employment arrangement will be considered if candidate has extensive experience being successful in remote work
